15 years ago today, I was at a friend’s house with my sister when I received a frantic call from my mom, yelling that a car had just crashed onto our front lawn. I didn’t fully understand what she meant or how that was even possible, but I quickly drove home, anxious to see what had happened.
When we arrived, we were in complete shock. The road was closed, fire trucks and police surrounded the area, tape blocked off our property, and a crowd had begun to gather. Then I looked up and saw it: a car suspended on our front lawn.
How. In. The. World.
I froze in disbelief. How could something like this be real? It felt like a scene straight out of a movie. We rushed inside and embraced our parents and little brother, struggling to find the words for what had just happened.
My mom explained that she had been sitting in the living room when she heard my father’s car coming up the driveway and then a horrible crash.
They went to the front of the house, where two young men had climbed out of the car and onto the lawn, both in shock.
The rest of the night was spent watching as firefighters worked to remove the car and get it onto the street for the tow truck, while crowds gathered to witness the spectacle.
Looking back, 15 years later, I am so grateful to God and His hand of protection woven throughout this entire story.
Had my sister and I been home... my father would have parked outside and crossed the street at the very moment that car came flying down our hill.
Had there not been a fence on our front lawn to stop the car... it might have continued down the street, potentially killing the driver, the passenger, or someone else along the way.
Had one of us been sitting on the front steps, as I so often did, we could have been in its path.
Had this happened during the day, when people might have been walking along the street... someone could have been seriously injured or killed.
I could go on and on about all the things that could have happened and the different ways the story could have ended.
BUT GOD.
We later learned that the driver and passenger were underage and intoxicated when they came speeding down the hill that led to our street.

The car was totaled, and front lawn demolished… but by the grace of God, both miraculously survived without injuries, and no one else was hurt.
I love looking back on this story and remembering God’s protection and goodness. It reminds me that nothing is impossible for the Lord and even in the most frightening circumstances… He is able to turn all things around for our good and His glory. Praise the Lord!🧡

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. ~ Romans 8:28O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. ~ Psalm 105:1–2Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. ~ Psalm 96:3
